Oh goodness, the moments we dread...
Mom actually snuck out at 5am to catch her flight to San Francisco for a half-marathon with her sisters... so that was one farewell we didn't have to face.
But there were a few that made for a teary start to the day... Saturday 26 July!
Evan and Emilia were sad to say good-bye to their "friends"... the kids really enjoyed each other this time around. Next time they'll be even bigger and more able to relate and interact...
Oh... Aunt Amber... We love you!
Matt and the boys had been fishing the previous day - which didn't bode well for the farewell at the beach party. So... we showed up on their doorstep to say good-bye...
We love you guys... thanks for such a fun summer holiday!!! We had a blast!
Next stop - Grandma and Grandpa got packed into the car at the beach while I took Helena to the restrooms... so our farewell last night was through the car window. Seriously?!? We surprised the grandparents with a quick stop over for lots of hugs, a prayer, tears and some chocolate chip cookies for the day!
Grandma did have a precious gift to pass on to Helena (which Helena took to school - YIKES!) even though she thought we were leaving on Sunday...
Grandma made some of her famous cookies for us... we took a bag with us for the day... too bad we couldn't get them in our luggage - we would've loved to have eaten them all week!
We love these amazing people... and we've had a really good opportunity to spend a lot of time with them and around them over the past three weeks.
And a teary farewell it was...
