So on Friday 21 September my mom came home from work all excited that the Space Shuttle Endeavor was passing over Southern California. After checking out the internet and news on TV, we decided the Huntington Beach Pier would be a good place to catch a glimpse.
Well... it was a beautiful day for hanging out at the beach (I love Hunter's new Anaheim Angels baseball hat - so does he)...
yes, us and hundreds of others... and oh yum... I got my Jamba Juice... there were a few things that I really wanted to have while being there - so YUM it was worth it!!!
So while we were waiting... and waiting... and waiting... and waiting... the kids ate all the snacks I'd brought (and anything else we bought) and we entertained ourselves with it as well.
And as everyone was watching out over the coast, you could hear a buzz in the crowd that sent everyone looking the opposite direction - back inland to where the space shuttle was travelling...
Oh... super zoom... though everyone expected it to come over the water, it actually flew over the Boeing plant - way on the other side of town!!! HA!!!! So actually, the kids totally missed it...
And the disappointed crowds returned to their cars and the rest of their day...
(how much does that guy look like my dad??? it's not him... he was at work where the shuttle flew pretty much directly overhead)
And here is an official photo so you know what all the hoopla was about - it sure would've been cool to have seen it fly overhead looking like this! Oh well... we were there!!! HA!
