Meanwhile back in Wellington...
Tony went back to work while the rest of us had another week to enjoy some sun and friends at our own pace...
On Monday - we met up with old friends at the KidzStuff Theatre showing of Rapunzel... it was a beautiful day enjoying fine arts. After our fun, we did a bunch of errands and stocked up on food supplies and probably another hour or so of DVDs...
On Tuesday, the kids' classmates, Michael and Leon, came over for a play... it was a stunning day so we met up with some other friends at the local school for almost THREE hours of scootering, climbing, chasing, tagging, laughing, running...
and when we got home, they spent the rest of the day outside building, creating, chicken-watching...
and when we went to drop the boys back at home - Helena got to meet 'Ratbag' - the boys' rat which she didn't really mind crawling all through her hair - yuk! All in all... a pretty good start to a few days with these guys.
Wednesday was a bit of a blustery day with clouds and rain... so we stayed inside for the morning playing Monopoly and computer games, eating toast and occupying ourselves until it was time for the main event of the day... swimming at the Tawa Pool with the Arise Kid's leaders and a bunch of friends from church. Another day of almost THREE hours of activity - these kids are getting such good night's sleeps!
On Thursday the sun came out again, so we headed over to the Waitangi Park to scooter and skateboard. It was a lot of fun, with a lot of wipe-outs... thankfully none serious!
Actually, there was a potentially serious accident that occurred on the top of this ramp involving a little girl whose curiosity caused a bit of slippage. When I reached her, she was hanging upside down with her leg caught in the railing, head dangling... that was a bit of a scare... but thankfully all was well! And we had a good lesson in keeping our hands on the rail and sticking to the middle of the ramp.
The loveliness of Thursday ended with hot chips on the deck and the grandparents' arrival. We had fun time with Michael and Leon... who knows, maybe we'll do more holiday hang-outs together.
On Friday, Helena and I took Granny Lynne to the Little Teapot for a bit of girl-time over a delicious pot of tea and some goodies, while Grandad and Hunter wandered through Miramar for a bit of male bonding over hot chocolate and some library time. We met up with a few others for another Arise Kid's hangout down at Oriental Bay for some fun in the sand.
Friday night, the kids hung out with Marcie while we adults had a delicious Thai dinner in town.
Saturday was spent inside while Tony and I sorted through some stuff - thankfully the grandparents were here to take the kids out to enjoy the glorious sunshine down at Scorching Bay. It was such an amazing day, though, we got fish and chips to eat along the waterfront nearby.
After a great morning at church on Sunday, we had lunch at home, then Granny and I took the kids out to two beaches for some Wellington sun!
Ahhh yes... fun in the sun while Tony worked away on the home internet system. Thankfully, Anthony came over to lend a hand... and by the end of the night - our internet was A-OK!!! YAY!!!
And then... Monday rolled along and the kids went back to school!!!
And now... just only one term left!!!
On Tuesday, I took three friends to Weltec to be "mature models" for a make-up artistry student exam. The ladies looked and felt so lovely we enjoyed the moment a bit longer with an outing at the Chocolate Frog Cafe.
Tuesday night, Grandad and Granny took us out to dinner for our final evening together... we went to our local favourite - Rempah!
Unfortunately, our orders were a bit spicier than usual....but we all managed to eat enough and I didn't have to do dishes - all in all - another great day!
It was so good to have the grandparents visit again... the kids always ask why they have to leave so soon, no matter how long they've stayed.
Wednesday morning, the grandparents left but the holiday feeling stuck around as we raced into town to catch a glimpse of a naval ship that was over at Queen's Wharf... all this sunshine makes it hard to get back into routine.
Who knows - maybe term 4's routine will include a bit of space for spontaneous...
