Hardcore???

NOT Really!!!

Having done three triathlons last year, we were really looking forward to getting into the series here in NZ. Our first event was scheduled for Wellington Anniversary - Monday, January 22. We'd been signed up since Sept/Oct - thus our numbers were #4 & 5!!! We'd been training since then too... with an A/B fortnightly schedule to assure each of us were getting enough time to swim, cycle and run... HARDCORE!! We had someone looking after our kids (more on her next entry), the car was packed with all the gear the night before... we were ready!!! Sunday night was a rather sleepless one with the southerly gale force wind pounding against our bedroom window keeping us up til the alarm finally went off at 5.30am! Despite wind and rain, we still got in the car and headed to Scorching Bay thinking things may have cleared up... however it was only windier and rainier on that side of the penninsula! We did take our bikes out of the car and we did stand over by the transition area... but as Tony so pragmatically pointed out - "We're just doing this for fun, right?" "Yeah" "Well, this doesn't look like much fun to me..." "Me neither"... "Let's go out to breakfast then" "Okay, that sounds like fun"!!!

So yeah... for those of you who thought we were 'hardcore'... well... we're not!

Not really! We've still got another event coming in March... and I am still looking for a half marathon by April... not really hardcore... just need a bit of motivation to exercise.

  1. Seriously? You are still hardcore. Not doing the tri in the pounding wind and rain doesn't make you softies, it only makes you sane. I can't wait to hear about the half marathon though. I'd love to do one in the future. Now if only this baby would come so I could start recovering and maaayyyybeee someday really start exercising again. :)
